The “4D Internet Commands” plug-in is provided with the 4D installer but is not automatically installed in your 4D environment. To benefit from 4D Internet Commands in your databases, you must:

1. Select "4D Internet Commands" from the 4D installer, or download it from the 4D product download portal.
2. Install the plug-in files in the Plugins folder of your database(s). For more information, please refer to the Installing plugins or components section.

In order to use the suite of commands in 4D Internet Commands, you must have access to a network that supports TCP/IP.

4D Internet Commands allows you to use the secure protocol with commands for sending messages and connecting with the e-mail servers. No special configuration is required.

Note: The implementation of TLS in 4D Internet Commands uses the "implicit method".

For many of the 4D Internet Commands, it is necessary to have access to a domain name server. For more information, please refer to your network administrator.

In order to send mail using the set of SMTP commands, it is necessary for the sender to have access to a SMTP mail server, which will forward the message to a POP3 mail server.

In order to use the POP3 commands, you must have an account on a POP3 mail server.

In order to use the IMAP commands, you must have an account on an IMAP mail server.
